A Real Multiplayer Game With Nothing to Install

Work laptop that blocks installs. A Chromebook. A machine that isn’t yours. VAULTREAVE is a full multiplayer dungeon crawler that opens in a browser tab and starts.

Search for something to play on a locked-down machine and you get the same list every time: Wordle, the Chrome dinosaur, minesweeper, a crossword. All fine. All two-minute puzzles.

This page is for the other case — when you want an actual game: classes, loot, a party of four, real stakes — and the machine in front of you will not let you install one.

Be honest with yourself about the time

This is the part those listicles skip, so here it is plainly:

What you get instead of a puzzle

Requirements, concretely

A browser with HTML5 canvas and WebSocket support — that is every current browser. No minimum GPU: it is pixel art on a 2D canvas, which is exactly why it runs on the hardware IT departments hand out. You can mute the tab and lose nothing mechanical.

FAQ

Do I need to install anything?

No. It is a browser tab — no installer, no launcher, no admin rights.

Can I pause?

No. Runs are real-time and online; closing the tab mid-run gives you about a minute to return before the run ends and you drop what you carried.

How long is one run?

You decide — leave at the first exit in a few minutes, or push deeper and stretch it. Leaving early is a strategy, not a failure.

What does it run on?

Windows, macOS, Linux, ChromeOS, Android, iOS. Anything with a current browser.

Is it free?

Yes, and no account is needed to start. Optional purchases are cosmetic or convenience only — nothing sold affects combat stats.

A note on where you play

Whether a game is appropriate on a machine your employer or school owns is between you and their acceptable-use policy. This page describes what the software needs, not what your IT department allows.
